"Singing Vines" makes use of a type of clay decal (in this case of vines) more often used by potters, but which can also be used on clay monoprints. The rhythm of the vine together with the other abstract marks in this piece was so musical that I could hear it singing.
Painting with clay is my passion and my joy. Called clay monoprinting, it is a unique form of image transfer developed by Mitch Lyons. There is a spontaneity to this most satisfying process, and random surprises as colors and textures from previous layers come through in the print. Abstraction happens organically.
