I learned to say "down the shore" when I moved to Philadelphia. When I lived in San Diego we said "at the beach". Either way, this piece captures both the heat of sun-warmed sand, and the ebb and flow of the tides rolling on to the beach.
Painting with clay is my passion and my joy. Called clay monoprinting, it is a unique form of image transfer developed by Mitch Lyons. There is a spontaneity to this most satisfying process, and random surprises as colors and textures from previous layers come through in the print. Abstraction happens organically.
