The silk screened image of the seated meditator was made from my photograph of a statue in the Philadelphia Museum. It was an experiment. I wasn't sure how the silk screen inks would work with the clay and the reemay, but it was fine. I love the vine growing in the lace beneath the meditating person.
Painting with clay is my passion and my joy. Called clay monoprinting, it is a unique form of image transfer developed by Mitch Lyons. There is a spontaneity to this most satisfying process, and random surprises as colors and textures from previous layers come through in the print. Abstraction happens organically.
